Home Decor 2020
As we embrace the new decade, various design trends for 2020 are being highlighted by Living Etc magazine and on Pinterest. These range from Grandmillennial Style aka Granny chic where old heirlooms are placed in a modern setting to Global Influence, using design ideas inspired by overseas travel (here we’re definitely ahead of the curve!) to Biophilic designs which translates as using nature and plants in designs. nature and plants in designs.
When Emma and I set about designing our new La Prairie Collection, we stuck to our ‘tried and tested’ formula: what would be useful in our home and also look great? What would we love to own? We’ve been experimenting with some quite different styles for Artisanne and we’re really excited about them. They are based on the following beliefs:
More is more – form and function can be effortlessly combined to make items stylish and practical. We love creating pieces that are the focal point of a room yet also provide useful storage so all that clutter usually found in a living room or bedroom is hidden away. Our latest twin-use pieces are round storage baskets with bespoke wooden lids making an eye-catching side or coffee table with storage space underneath, available in two sizes.

Layering – furniture, fabric and accessories in similar tones work well when layering, and adding textures or patterns keeps it interesting, especially if you’ve gone for a simple neutral colour like grey, taupe or cream. Cushions, throws and even artwork can fall into this category.

Classic with a twist – add interest to a room design with an unexpected twist. Our eye-catching Tall Hall baskets are designed to hold umbrellas, yoga mats and even hockey sticks just where you need them, neatly stored by the door in the hallway to grab and go!
