Unique products

Artisanne’s products are a blend of traditional weaving techniques and modern design. We work directly with Wolof weavers in Senegal to create unique, stylish and practical household storage ideas for the home.  

Traditionally crafted

Each Artisanne product is created with meticulous attention to detail. The groups of women we partner with in Thies region use techniques that have been passed down over generations. Still used for general storage in Senegal, our baskets are woven from njodax, a local grass, and long strips of plastic that are typically used for making bazin mats, similar to prayer mats. 

Thoughtfully Sourced

From the beginning, we have aimed to work directly with the weavers, ensuring they earn a fair and secure income for their products. We travelled through the region’s villages, which are renowned for their tradition of weaving, looking at collections of baskets and explaining the project to the women.  We soon identified groups of artisans interested in working with us. The hours spent discussing weaving helped establish strong relationships and an understanding of the intricacies of their craft. 

Bespoke orders 

We are able to make bespoke orders within the limitations of natural resources.
